A replacement often starts with a door that no longer closes cleanly or a frame with water getting behind it. Before new glass goes into your Hurst shower, the old door, track and frame have to come out and the opening has to be checked. Glass cannot fix a leak that comes from the base or waterproofing, so find the source first.
Photograph the whole opening, including the curb and the wall edges where the old frame was fastened, so the quote accounts for any screw holes or caulk lines the frame leaves behind. Before the final measurement, every surface the glass touches (tile, curb, walls and floor) must be complete: tile set, grouted, caulked and fully cured, with waterproofing done.
Stand outside the shower and look at the route into it. A hinged door may need clearance around a vanity corner, while a sliding arrangement needs room for its moving panel and track. Neither should be chosen simply because it fits a familiar product name.
Show the full opening and mark the showerhead position. Ask for the usable entry width and the movement of the door to be clear on the proposed drawing. If a fixed panel narrows the entry, decide whether that trade-off works for you. Check the handle position too; a projecting pull can meet a nearby fixture before the edge of the glass does.
Frameless glass keeps panel edges and more of the surrounding tile visible, but it still needs support. Hinges, clips, channels, bars and seals can appear in different positions depending on the arrangement. Ask which ones are included before deciding that two enclosure drawings show the same result.
Look at the proposed height against the tile lines and neighboring door frames. Compare clear and low-iron glass beside your finishes if samples are available. Choose the specification for your opening rather than copying the thickness from another bathroom. Panel sizes and support conditions matter, and the finished measurements need to be confirmed for your own shower before the glass is made.
A handle should be easy to grip from the side where you use it. Think about reaching it with wet hands and opening the door while holding a towel. If you want a towel bar on the glass, discuss its height and projection along with the handle so the two do not compete for space.
Bring the finish details of nearby faucets if you want a close match. Similar color names from different manufacturers can look different in the bathroom. Confirm that the chosen fitting works with the glass and that any holes are settled before fabrication. Keep the product names and cleaning instructions with the quote for later care questions.
Hurst maintains its building information and permit records through a Citizen Self-Service portal. If your project extends beyond the enclosure into changes covered by the city, use that resource to confirm the applicable process. This page focuses on the shower door itself: how it opens, the fixed glass around it and the hardware you touch each day. Bring a photo of your Hurst bathroom with the vanity and entry door visible. That view is often more useful for choosing a new enclosure than a close-up of the old handle, because it shows the space the door actually has to use. Hurst is in Tarrant County.

Browse the full glass gallery ↗It may, but the opening still needs enough room for the moving panel, track and usable entry. Send a wide photo showing the vanity and fixtures outside the shower. Ask to compare the space each arrangement leaves rather than assuming sliding hardware will solve every clearance issue in the bathroom.
Choose it before fabrication whenever it affects the holes or the enclosure hardware. A later switch may not fit the panel already made. Share the style you want early, confirm its compatibility, and keep the manufacturer and product details in the approved scope so the selected fitting is clear to everyone.
Every enclosure is custom priced. The layout matters most: each angle and miter adds fabrication cost. Glass thickness, glass type and hardware finish also affect the price. Send photos and rough dimensions for a quote within 24 hours. Larger or more complex projects get an in-person measurement.
Your custom glass is typically installed within 7 to 10 days after the final measurement. Wait 24 hours before the first shower so the silicone can cure, and do not touch the silicone seals while they cure.
